South Africa to bid for another FIFA World Cup

In the days ahead, the World Football Governing Body, FIFA, will start receiving bids from countries willing to host the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

After successfully hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup, South Africa will be bidding to host the event.

According to Danny Jordan, South Africa Football Association President, the country had earlier submitted a bid for the 2023 edition but withdrew it in December 2019.

According to the South Africa football federation president, the 2023 bid was abandoned because the country resolved to improve the women’s game in the country.

South Africa remains the first and only African country to have hosted the senior men’s world cup in 2010.

The infrastructures used during the 2009 Confederations cup and the 2010 World Cup will be used in the bid.

If the federation officially bids to host the tournament, they will have to deal with countries like Italy, Chile, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, and Norway and join bids from Mexico and USA.
