Asante Kotoko coach Zerbo names a 20-man squad to FACE Aduana Stars

It has been confirmed that Georges Mfegue and Isaac Oppong are out as Kotoko coach Syedou Zerbo names a solid 20-man squad for the game against Aduana Stars in week 10 of the Betpawa Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors and the league leaders face off on Sunday at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on New Year’s Day in a game that promises to be a cagey encounter.

The Porcupine Warriors were handled well by Bechem United in the MTN FA Cup on Monday and won’t have it much easier come Monday with a visit from Kumasi to Dormaa in the Premiership.

They have a poor record when playing at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park against the Fire Boys. The last time porcupines visited Dormaa, they walked away with all three points following a 2-0 win during the era of Dr. Proper Nartey Ogam. It was their first away win over Aduana Stars in Dormaa after in the last decade.

Coach Seydou Zerbo will go into the clash without the services of Danlad Ibrahim, Sherrif Mohammed, and Augustine Agyapong – the trio is with the Black Galaxies for preparations ahead of the CHAN tournament in 2023.

With 6 wins, 1 draw, and two defeats in the League, Aduana FC sits at top of the League table with 19 points – two points richer than their opponents after nine rounds of matches. The Dormaa-based side has won 3 and lost 2 of their last five games and holds a two-point advantage in the race for the title while Kotoko sits second in the log with 5 wins, two draws, and 2 losses and has managed 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss in their last five games. The last time porcupines visited Dormaa, they walked away with all three points following a 2-0 win during the era of Dr. Proper Nartey Ogam.

The 20-man squad has Ivorian international, Eric Zeze, Steven Mukwala, Richmond Lamptey, and others who are available for selection as the Porcupines aim to overcome the Fire Boys.
