Bayern Munich handed a boost as Mane returns to light training ahead of next month’s mouthwatering Champions League tie with PSG

Sadio Mane has returned to Bayern Munich training after spending over two months on the sidelines with a leg injury.

The 30-year-old picked up an injury to his right fibula in the early stages of Bayern’s league match with Werder Bremen on November 8, and the setback forced him to miss out on the chance of representing Senegal at the World Cup.

Mane underwent surgery and has not played since, but he has been making progress with his recovery, and was back out on the grass on Tuesday morning at Bayern’s training base.

In a video posted on the club’s official Twitter account, Mane is filmed walking out of the changing room with a huge smile on his face.

Snow can be seen on the grass by Mane, but even the bitterly cold weather conditions could not dampen his mood as he declared that it was a ‘great feeling’ to be back in training.

The short clip then showed Mane being put through his paces, with the forward jogging up and down the pitch as he looks to get back to his best condition.

Mane’s return is a welcome boost for Bayern, who have not been completely convincing in the league this season.

They were held to a 1-1 draw by RB Leipzig on Friday in their first game since the World Cup, although Julian Nagelsmann’s men still have a five-point lead at the top of the table.

The German champions have looked far better in the Champions League, winning all six of their group matches to ease into the knockout stages.

They have been handed a difficult last-16 tie, though, having been paired with France giants PSG.

It promises to be a mouthwatering contest between two of Europe’s best sides, and Mane could be targeting a return to action in time for the first leg.

Bayern travel to Paris on February 14, before hosting the return fixture on March 8.
