U-20 AFCON: ’‘We will fight to win the trophy & celebrate with our fans”-Egypt forward Ahmed

Egypt forward Abdelhamid Ahmed is confident the hosts will recover from their draw against Mozambique as they bid to win the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil.

The Zamalek youngster was named the TotalEnergies Man of the Match following his impressive performance against Young Os Mambas at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.

“We’re all confident that we will be crown champions of the tournament and celebrate it in our home. We want to celebrate with our fans,” Abdelhamid said.

Egypt were dominant but couldn’t break down the resolute Mozambican defense who were disciplined inside their area.

“We apologize for the result but we’re confident of winning. We will do our best to win the championship,” he told CAF Media.

The hosts will take on Nigeria on 22 February as both sides search for their first win of the tournament following Nigeria’s narrow defeat to Senegal.
