Congo coach Marie Joseph Madienguela has warned his players to be fully focused despite their 2-1 victory over South Sudan on Monday night.
The Red Devils secured the important points in their first outing in Group B of the ongoing TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
“The way we played we should be concentrating more and avoid the lapses of the closing stages. We will learn and improve in our next matches,” said Madienguela.
Forwards Maurile Bassinga and Sousssou Ilendo scored on either side of halftime to see off the brave Bright Stars of South Sudan.
“It has a high level match against two good teams,” the experienced coach told journalists at his post match press conference at the Suez Canal Stadium.
“South Sudan played well and they gave us a good fight. It was important to win the match as it helps us reach our target.”
The Red Devils will face Uganda in their next following their respective victories in the opening match day of the group.
The Hippos and Congo are the two joint leaders of the log while South Sudan and the Central African Republic occupy the bottom places.
